The Blessing is one of the most misunderstood principals in this day and age. We know what the blessing is by definition in English, and we read it in the bible but there is a spiritual principal that God has placed behind the blessing that is powerful. By the flesh we love to curse and say stupid things spiritually, but by the spirit we need to be speaking the blessing, and become wise to hold our tongues before we curse someone or something. The ancient Hebrews received this principal and understood it. The wise would either speak the blessing or they learned to keep silent (Proverbs 11:12-13 12 He that is void of wisdom despiseth his neighbour: but a man of understanding holdeth his peace. 13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.)
What is the blessing? The blessing can be put this way. Having the hand of God on you is the blessing. The blessing of the Lord makes rich, and He adds no sorrow. That is the blessing. Don’t just think about money but think of yourself as spiritually rich and financially rich, because that is the blessing. God told Abraham that he was going to bless Him so that Abraham could go out and bless the nations. That’s the blessing. You have got to know the promises of God to understand the blessing. Everything that God has empowered us to do is the Blessing. Jesus dying on the cross for us gave us the blessing. Galatians 3:29 KJV And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. I would have to write a book to tell of all the promises God has given us. You have to study that out and go to church to find the promises. We have to know that every promise is Yes in Christ.
What is the curse? The curse is to be without Jesus. Being with out Jesus means you have no promises of God. The Hand of God is not with the cursed. Therefore riches add sorrow. Life is hard. Troubles come to the cursed and it over takes the cursed. They prosper in times but their fall is harsh. They have no protection from the Devil. John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
Selah. Pause and Think about the Blessing and the curse.
Choose this day the blessing or the curse. Kerry Kirkwood has a great interview, on Sid Roth’s “It’s Supernatural”, about the blessing. One day he was driving in his car and a vehicle cut him off. He called the guy an idiot. How many of us have said that before or maybe even in a more inappropriate way? Then God started talking to him about how the man driving that car is not an idiot and that the driver was one of God’s sons. He told Kerry I love him and I do not want anyone to perish but have eternal life through Jesus Christ. Calling someone an idiot is the curse. Do you want to be the one to curse someone? By our flesh it is so easy to curse. For many of us it is how we grew up, or that is how we have been living for the past 10, 20, 30 years. God is calling us out of that. Repent and change the way you think. Cursing someone has a bad affect on you not the other person. When we bless that person it opens the door for God to work in their lives. I don’t know about you but I was a fool once and God brought me out of that. My life is so great now. I want to affect people with the blessing not the curse.
This is not something that happens over night. We have to work on it and keep it upmost in our thoughts. I have learned to keep my mouth shut if I cannot call the blessing on someone. Oh how I have wanted to curse someone for doing something that made me mad but I listen to the Holy Spirit and just speak a blessing over him or her. We are to love people not hate them. That is how we are separated from the world. Then I have found out that the morning time for me is not a good time as my mind is still waking up. So I have learned to keep silent if I cannot speak the blessing. Once you start doing this you will see a huge difference in your life. Do not take my word for it. Study your bible listen to God and start working the blessing yourself. Lets start bringing people to the glorious life of Jesus Christ. Lets start making disciples of the world. Remember your words have great power.
